So while the visiting birds reside there, our shrubbery will be neglected.

That is quite funny and very nice of you for letting them keep their home. My gosh it's so sunny and nice there. We are finally getting some sunshine here in Utah and the snow is melting. I actually saw some green grass today!
They are sooo cute. I bet that the kids love the fact that they have baby birds there.
They really are adorable! A few years ago we had a nest in a hanging basket on the front porch and we had so much fun watching the babies.
